White Springs

In the mid-1800s, White Springs was a busy attraction for tourists who were drawn by the local sulphur springs. Today, visitors to this small, quiet town would see little evidence of the many luxury hotels and boarding houses that once accommodated the visitors in the 19th century. The remains of the White Sulphur Springs spring house still stands down a walkway a few yards from the visitor center. Here guests would soak in the widely believed healing waters beside the Suwannee River.

White Springs serves as the northern starting point for the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail, a boating trail which runs for approximately 170 miles down the famous river to the town of Suwannee on Florida's Gulf Coast.
