Olustee Battlefield Historic State Park

On February 20, 1864, over 10,000 Union and Confederate troops fought on this spot. 2,807 men were wounded or lost their lives in the five hour battle that took place.

Every year for the past thirty-seven years, the battle has been reenacted on a weekend in February. Visitors walk back in time as they wind their way through busy Union and Confederate camps, purchase unique items of the day at sutler tents, watch demonstrations by soldiers and others, eat lunch at one of the many vendors, enjoy period music played by a military orchestra, attend a church service similar to the time, and watch the battle unfold. Bleachers provide ample seating for spectators, but some prefer to bring folding chairs for a closer view. Visitors can ride on one of the trams to the battlefield or walk a pine needle-strewn path.

The park is located on U. S. 90 east of Lake City. Arrive early for a good parking place or take a bus from one of the area locations that provide parking for the event.
