Rainbow Springs State Park

Rainbow Springs State Park was a beautiful ending to an early November day. We followed the wide walkways (left from the days when Rainbow Springs was a tourist attraction) past the clear blue-green waters of the Rainbow River where tubing, swimming, canoeing, snorkeling, and fishing are favorite activities. The springs keep the river a cool 72 degrees year round. Waterfalls (also from the attraction days) are scattered throughout the park amidst lush gardens. The best time to view the gardens is early spring when the azaleas are in bloom. There is a picnic area as well as a concession and gift shop.

Rainbow Springs State Park is located off U. S. Highway 41 just north of Dunnellon.
