Deer Lake State Park
We visited Deer Lake State Park in late November. It was a quiet, cool morning as we took a wooded path to the boardwalk which crossed the sand dunes which reminded us of snow drifts dotted with beach shrubs, flowers, and driftwood. Birds flitted about in the brush or soared through the gray sky. The beach’s powdery white sand stretched for miles and met the green-blue gulf waters that give the Florida Panhandle its nickname: the Emerald Coast. Deer Lake State Park, named for the coastal dune lake within the park, was a serene setting that invited visitors to linger. It is located near Seacrest Beach on County Road 30-A.
