Saint George Island

St. George Island is a pleasantly different side of Florida for beachgoers. Miles of white sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico line one side of the island where sea gulls soar and the gentle waters of the gulf wash across the sand. On the other side of the island is Apalachicola Bay where pelicans sail across the sky, marshes line the shore, and the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of pine.

To get to St. George Island, take the bridge from Eastpoint off of US 98. We visited the Cape St. George Lighthouse and St. George Island State Park. Cape St. George Lighthouse is located at 2 East Gulf Beach Drive. It’s not hard to find—just look up. The museum and visitor’s center is located there also. From St. George Island State Park turn right onto Gulf Beach Drive to go to St. George Island State Park.
