Gamble Plantation Historic State Park

Gamble Plantation is located in Ellenton, a small town just north of Bradenton off US 301. From I-75, take exit 224.

Following the Second Seminole War, Major Robert Gamble, Jr., took advantage of the Armed Occupation Act which offered settlers 160 acres in return for living on the land for five years. Major Gamble settled on the Manatee River where he established a sugar plantation and eventually increased his land to over 3,000 acres. In 1873, the property was bought by Major George Patten.

Today, visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the restored Gamble Mansion and Patten House. The museum and houses are open Thursday through Monday. Guided tours are scheduled throughout the day beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending with the last tour at 4:00 p.m. There are several out buildings to view and a picnic area.
