Apalachicola
With its old, southern homes, ancient Magnolias, and picturesque Apalachicola River and Apalachicola Bay, the town of Apalachicola was a delight. Unique shops and restaurants lured us to the pleasant downtown area. While in Apalachicola we visited John Gorrie Museum State Park, a small museum dedicated to the inventor of the ice making machine. If you ever stopped to wonder where the idea of refrigeration and air conditioning was born, this is worth the visit. Another place we visited was the Orman House, the antebellum home of Thomas Orman, a cotton merchant.
